Iconzart - The Story So Far....
Back in early 2003 Layla Walsh wanted to print a photo on to canvas for a gift. However, the canvas seemed flat and lifeless, so using the skill she had gained from previous design and painting work she transformed a photo into a painting and Iconzart was born! The techniques used in creating our bespoke portraits were then applied to other forms of wall art, like taking a famous image and giving it an Iconzart twist. This type of hybrid Pop Art has become more and more popular, with other Brighton based artists beginning to join Iconzart. Our online gallery showcases many different styles of painting, from street art to contemporary and abstract plus many more examples of hand painted pop art. Our portraits and pop art are always hand painted, always striking and always influenced by our customers.
About Commissioning a Portrait.
Portrait painting began thousands of years ago to memorialise the images of their subject. It used to be that only the rich and powerful could be immortalised on canvas, but now this is not the case. We receive hundreds of enquiries from all different walks of life asking about commissioning a painting. To commission a portrait of someone or something you love is a very personal thing to do, but it is also a very fun thing to do! From initially receiving your photo or image we talk you through every step of the process, making the changes you need and ensuring you are 100% happy with the design proof before we start painting. If you are not sure what style of painting you want, just ask! A large portion of our previous commissions have been in a style requested by our customers, usually in our Iconzart style of hybrid pop art, but remember, it’s your painting so you have the final say. If you would rather have a simple line art or stencil art style instead of a pop art portrait, just say and we can make it happen. Please don’t forget that the design process is absolutely FREE, that’s how confident we are!
